The UK Department for International Development (DFID) funded Sub-National Governance (SNG) Programme’s Punjab team held a one-day orientation workshop titled, “Re-strategising SNG’s Role in District with New Local Government System,” in Committee room of Deputy Commissioner Office, Hafizabad on Friday, February 3, 2017.
The session was held in collaboration with District Administration Hafizabad and chaired by the Deputy Commissioner. The SNG team included Team Leader SNG Punjab, Shoeb Iqbal Syed along with PFM Advisors – Muhammad Arshed, Anam Hussain and Umer Aziz.
The workshop was held to facilitate the District Administration, District Health and Education Authorities in budget making techniques and accounting processes as prescribed under the Local Government Act, 2013. The focus of the workshop was to brief the participants on SNG’s role in district to enable smoother transition to the new local government system.
During the session, SNG team discussed the importance of ensuring the provision of basic health facility in the district. The workshop enabled the newly established entities to overcome their problems, leading to efficient financial management and governance for better service delivery.
The participants lauded the initiative and expected continuation of such support in future as well.
